NARSA Level 2 Technician Certification Is Now Live

Level 2 Technical Training

As cooling systems continue to evolve, so do the skills required to properly diagnose and repair them. Today’s technicians are expected to do far more than replace parts. They must understand coolant chemistry, airflow, system pressure, material compatibility, and how multiple components interact within a complete cooling system.

To help meet that challenge, NARSA is proud to announce that the new Level 2 Technician Certification Program is now officially live on the NARSA website.

Developed specifically for early/mid-level technicians, the program is designed to strengthen diagnostic ability, improve repair quality, and reduce repeat failures through a deeper understanding of cooling system operation and troubleshooting. Rather than focusing solely on component replacement, the training emphasizes identifying the root cause of failures and applying real-world diagnostic techniques that lead to long-term solutions.

The Level 2 Certification covers a wide range of topics, including coolant chemistry and compatibility, flow restrictions, electrolysis, failure analysis, repair versus replacement decisions, and proper radiator fitment and application selection. Technicians will also gain a stronger understanding of repair procedures for both copper/brass and aluminum radiators.

One of the key goals of the program is to help technicians think more systematically about cooling system performance. Overheating complaints and radiator failures are often symptoms of larger issues within the system, and accurately diagnosing those problems requires both technical knowledge and practical experience. This certification was built to help bridge that gap.

The launch of the Level 2 program also represents an important step forward in NARSA’s ongoing commitment to technical education and workforce development. By providing structured training and certification opportunities, NARSA continues to invest in the future of the heat transfer and cooling system industry while helping member companies build stronger, more capable teams.

The program is now available online through the NARSA website, and additional training initiatives are already being explored as part of NARSA’s broader educational roadmap.
